
The Delhi High Court ordered the Delhi government to reinstate Uma Khurana on her old job. Uma was sacked when a private news channel Live India framed her in a fake television sting operation on August 30. The channel had accused Uma of forcing students into prostitution.
When channel aired the visuals of sting operation, an angry mob attacked the school where Khurana worked. The mob dragged her out and started assaulting her. Later, Police reached at the spot and arrested Khurana. She spent 10 days in prison.
Later, the Delhi Police crime Branch revealed that the sting operation was fake and the Live India reporter Prakash Singh framed Khurana in the whole episode. The police later arrested Prakash and the other aspiring journalist Rashmi, who was posed as school students in the visuals of sting operation.
Uma said in the court:
They disgraced me. I will consult the lawyers to file a defamation case against them.
Delhi Police have also questioned other staff of the channel Live India in the same case. Police have been made it confirm that they did not find any evidence against Khurana that she was involved in any sex racket.
The curt granted her bail on Monday and the judge said after announcing her bail that she had been more of a victim than an offender. Later, the court also ordered police to register case against those persons who assaulted on August 30.
