This is a million-dollar question that why the so-called electronic media journalists are looking so desperate to become a tool for increasing the TRP rating of the news channel where they work. Are the editorial teams of the news channels also the part of the game because without their acceptance channel cannot show visuals of any ’sting-operation’.

The news channels are themselves giving the Information and broadcasting ministry a reason to impose a code of content on the content and the visuals showing by news channels.

Yes, I am talking about the sting operation related to a sex scandal in Delhi. The news channel aired the news and the visuals (I must say it as edited or distorted) of a school and claimed that a Maths teacher in the school, Uma Khurana, was involved in prostitution scandal and pushed girls of the government school in prostitution.

Uma Khurana, a math teacher, was arrested when the channel aired the visuals of sting operation and purportedly showed that she was running a syndicate of making pornographic films, featuring her present and former girl students.

Within hours of showing the visuals of sting operation, people started gathering outside the school and even manhandled the math teacher, when police were taking her into custody. The whole nation saw how people tried to beat her on road.

It led to public humiliation and disgrace for her. The airing of the visuals featuring Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya, Vivek Vihar, had led the mob violence for about four hours near the school on last Thursday.

I preferred not to write a single word on this whole episode when entire media started blaming the teacher and organizing talk show on the importance of the sting operation to revel the ‘evil’ in the society. They even started patting their back by their own hands on their self-posed success by showing the sting operation.

They definitely reveled the evil in society not in the math teacher but in the mushrooming news channels. The nation is now watching that to get the high TRP, they can go to any extent and the honor of common people is nothing for them.

Within a week of airing the sting operation, the whole episode has been proved as a drama to get popularity. The whole operation has been proved as a hoax and a blatant attempt to frame the teacher in the name of journalism.

According to the report, the Delhi Police crime branch of Delhi Police has arrested the girl, who had been posed as a schoolgirl being offered by the teacher to a client. The police have found that the girl was actually a journalist and was a part of the whole drama to frame the teacher for money.

The police have revealed after watching the entire unedited tapes of the ’sting operation’ that how the reporter, Prakash Singh and the female journalist, who was posed as school girl, framed the school teacher Uma Khurana. The real victim in the whole episode actually was Uma Khurana.

On Thursday, the Crime Branch has arrested the girl who had featured as a schoolgirl in the sting operation and booked her for cheating, fabrication of evidence and criminal conspiracy. She will be produced in the Tis Hazari court on Friday. The girl is neither a schoolgirl, nor a prostitute, but a former TV news reporter.

The Crime Branch has booked her for giving false evidence when they watched the unedited tapes. The girl has been arrested under Section 192 (fabricating evidence), 193 (punishment for false evidence), 211 (false charges with intention to injure), 419 (impersonation) and 420 (cheating) of IPC. The police also recorded the statement of the journalist used her to frame the school teacher.

However, the crime branch did not disclose the identity of the girl. This is being said Uma Khurana is innocent and there is no any evidence against her as claimed by the news channel. Now, the crime branch said that the police team is ready to register a case against the reporter who had conducted the entire operation for giving false evidence in the whole incident.

Do we need to have such visual media organizations to work in the country in the name of freedom of speech and expression, the constitutional right given to Indian citizen by the constitution of India? Why should not people start boycotting such channels for whom the breaking news is ‘ Manyata is with Sanjay on a film premier show’.

They have no time to show the stories about the lives of the two eminent space scientists who were killed in a road accident just before the successful launching of GSLV-F04 and INSAT 4CR. Both the scientists were deeply involved in the whole process of launch but not present to see the success of their hard work.
