Till now the farmers were committing suicides in India but now they are being killed by the government. Is this the democracy for what our former leaders had fought with British rule? This is all happening in the name of creating Special Economic Zones (SEZs) now.
The governments, whether it is UPA in center or Congress, DMK and CPM in states, are thinking that industrialization is the sole way to curb poverty, unemployment and illiteracy in the states.
But, if we see the government’s policies of taking lands from farmers in the name of SEZs, you will find it nothing but the rising of a new kind of terrorism in India ie. Developmental Terrorism.

SEZs are nothing but a developmental terrorism and the worst victims of this terrorism are the poor farmers and landowners in villages. Sometimes, they have been rooted out from their land in the name of dams now they are being rooted out in the name of SEZs.
The left parties in India claim to be the party of oppressed and poor people. However, on the issue of establishing SEZs in Singur and Nandigram, left has been left in his own state where the party is ruling for more than 20 years. The kind of reaction showed by the poor villagers has shocked the CPM leadership in West Bengal.

The left leaders are getting no words to say anything to console the family members of the victims and the injured in the Nandigram killing.
For the first time perhaps, the left is being challenged on that very front BJP is equating the Wednesday killing with the Jalianwalah Bagh massacre happened in 1919 under British Rule.

But, Left has left no words in their mouth to say anything on the mass killing in Nandigram.
The CPM leaders are feeling great isolation From Kolkata to the New Delhi too. The different parties have condemned the police firing on innocent villagers in Nandigram.

There was no need to enter into the village and absolutely no need to open fire on the villagers. The CPM is feeling the heat from the NDA to the Congress and from the other left leaders to the Trinamool too.
These are not only the political parties who have criticized government’s action but several social activists have also come out to blame the government for killing 14 people on last Wednesday in Bengal.
Medha Patkar said:
Police is still stationed in Nandigram. Similar incident can take place again.
Trinamool Congress leader Mamta Banerjee said:
Why can’t this chief minister be arrested? He is playing the game of criminals. It doesn’t work in a democracy.
