The platform was ready to start a debate in US Senate on India-US civilian nuclear deal on Wednesday.

At the last minute, the Senator from North Dakota, Kent Conrad made some objections and insisted to have a debate on another bill dealing with Agriculture. The Senate will discuss the bill today.

Earlier, the Senate was ready to initiate the debate on the nuclear deal on Wednesday.

However, the Majority Leader, Bill Frist, had been announced about a unanimous Consent had been made on the modalities to clear the Bill through the Senate.

The Assistant Majority leader Senator Mitch McConnel of Kentucky said that

the Senate would conduct a short duration of morning business and then the US-India Nuclear Bill will be discussed. We reached on agreement to limit amendments to the Bill on Wednesday and now the Senate will expedite the consideration of the final passage on Thursday tomorrow.


Update:
CNN IBN has reported that the Indo-US nuclear deal has been introduced in the US Senate on Thursday morning. The debate is expected to start on the deal and it would be followed by vote on the agreement.

The deal will be in its original format and some 18 amendments are expected to be offered by 12 Senators during the debate that could last for more than a day.
