Quota protest turns nasty



There are times when you feel that police is nothing but hired goons of the government of the land. The news of imminent reservations for OBCs in IITs,IIMs and premier institutes is making some news. There is a lot of heartburn, at least among students, over this decision.



Anger and frustration spilled out on the streets of Delhi, as students from the capital’s leading medical colleges including AIIMs protested the OBC reservations. The Delhi police, in order to stop the protest lobbed teargas shells and used water canons to disperse hundreds of students of five premier medical colleges, who staged a demonstration against the government’s move, demanded that they not only want their demands to be met, but also an apology from the government.



Today’s demonstrations -first outside minister Arjun Singh’s residence and then at Jantar Mantar - can be seen as the first indication of what to expect once the quota is formally announced.



This reservation ogre is germinating the seeds of undue hate between general category and OBC students and if our political morons are talking about the profit of nation, it gained a student who is far less meritorious; but it also gained the hatred against reserved people and thus, disunity! Wow see, the Nation got richer!!!





In each instance of reservation, it is the respective elites which will make merry. The small guy will always be taken for a ride



What started as a peaceful protest slowly turned into anti-administration agitation. When the police, government and political buffoons fail to react in a sensitive manner, things could take an ugly turn.
