It seems that our External Affairs minister Pranab Mukherjee is very much impressed with success of China, that’s why he wants to inculcate the good policies and etiquettes of China through which it has emerged as powerful nation in Asia. According to 11th Plan for education, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh while focusing on higher education announced establishment of seven more IITs and eight IIMs.
Now in the meeting of the full Planning Commission, Pranab Mukherjee want s to discuss the reforms and revisions in fee structure of secondary and higher education in the country.
Some key factors of Pranab’s proposal are given below:
• Semester system be introduced instead of annual examinations and universities will be asked to revise curricula every three years.
• Total fees paid by the student should cover up to 20 per cent of the total expenses borne by the Government.
• He advocates in favor of Chinese model of education with higher fee structure.
• Indian universities should tie up with foreign universities.
• Higher educational institutes must be used for at least 250 days a year that means lesser number of holidays.
We all know that seventy percent of people in India still earn twenty rupees per day. So, how the poor and lower middle class families will manage to send their children in schools? First of all, the education should be made free. Our current education policies are compatible to our social system. Only we need to take aggressive steps to implement the education reforms honestly and make it accessible to all the children without any discrimination. If government really need fund, why these leaders do not generate money by cutting down their spending on various perks that they get?
