There was no time for thinking; people had to just act in accordance with a new ‘disaster’. Seven blasts in 11 minutes in Mumbai’s packed local trains rocked Mumbai on Tuesday.

Initially, people were completely shocked. But they realized within minutes about this trauma. Mumbaikars are supple and the city seems to be tested repeatedly.

Mumbaikars, as the people of Mumbai are called, people in cars were seen offering lifts to strangers, others came out of their homes and could be seen at the stations offering stranded passengers food and water.

Residents of areas near the blasts rushed to help injured passengers. Drivers of auto rickshaws and taxis loaded their vehicles with the dead and the hurt and rushed them to hospital.

Doctors battled through the night to treat hundreds of blood-spattered victims after blasts.

Overall, Mumbai once again on Tuesday showed great resilience and a sense of collective involvement as people rushed to help stranded and wounded fellow citizens.

Whether it is blasts or heavy rains, Mumbai always stands up during times of disaster.
