Shame on Mumbaikars. This was the first line that struck the mind when reports in Hindustan Times revealed that the same old story repeated outside JW Mariot Hotel in Juhu, Mumbai. I had posted here an article asking ‘Will Mumbaikars do it again?’ and yes they shamelessly did it once again what they had done exactly one year ago at Gateway of India.
According to the report, a mob of 70 to 80 people groped and molested two women near the JW Marriott Hotel on early morning on January 1. They started teasing and molesting the two women for about 15 minutes on a busy main street outside the 5-star hotel and pounced on them.

The incident happened when both of the girls came out of the Hotel with two male friends around 1:45 am and walked towards Juhu beach. A mediaperson, who captured the images of the incident, spotted a police van and asked them to help the women. The police rushed in and chased away the mob.

Where is the safe place for women? Women are not safe even in the presence of more than 1000 people. The similar incident had happened at gateway of India during New Year celebrations last year when some pervert-minded and drunken revelers stripped and molested a girl in the presence of more than 1000 people and even tore her cloths in public view, as her friend watched helplessly.

Is Mumbai safe for women? One would hesitate in answering the above question in ‘Yes’. Even the Mumbai police were not sure that women could feel safe on the occasions such as ‘December 31 celebration’ or ‘New Year celebration’. According to some police officials, it was not completely safe for women to be out on the streets on December 31 in Mumbai.
Shame on Mumbai...

NEFARIOUS! Have nuttin to say….the incident happened again…law n order is not that reliable it seems!
Really shameful and shocking. I feel each and everyone who witnessed the incident is a culprit. The incident took place in the presence of 1000 people and none could gather courage to come forward and help. A big shame for all!!
Shameful, no doubt. However, such incidents are commonplace, just as burglary. Insecure Indians must seriously start considering living in countries like Togo that has on of the lowest crime rates in the world.
To me its not a shock , its an expected one, its high time that we see ourselves more clearly, away from the usuall hypocritical standpoints that we make. A crowd is always sensitive,[ to its needs] and its invisible and this led to the trajic event.this is happenning all over india .. the inablity to comprehend another person’s free chioce is a curse ..and it has wide range of implications in a society.
it is this inability that has now become our morality! it can happen in any place in india ..actually its happenning ..
The next time, when you are frienzied about something, know that you are open,
have the courage to stand alone on your individuality, it can have an effect ..i am sure .
well, I am short of words to express my feelings on this abhorred deed, no words nothing saying... only to feel and contemplate how degenerated the humanity has gone... are they worth calling humans after all? no no noooooooooooooo noway
A shameful act indeed!
When amidst 1000 people women aren’t safe..then where are they safe actually?
Such an inhuman act (for the nth time)and the sad part is no one dared to stop those bastards...
