Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, the missile man of India, is not interested in the 2nd term for the President’s post. He has given an indication, just before four months left in his tenure, that he does not need 2nd term in Rashtrapati Bhavan.

If we ask from the people of India, specially from youngsters of the country, should he go for the second term, they will answer in positive way.

But, according to my view, this man is not meant for politics or we can say that politics is not so good to have a person like Kalam. Some days back, the Shiv sena Supremo Bala Sahab Thackeray had made hard comment on the physical appearance of Kalam and criticized him for his non-activeness in the case of Afzal hanging. Thackeray’s comment had caused pain to most of the Indians.

Kalam said at the Madras Institute of Technology;

I will return here in three months’ time to give a series of four to five lectures on nanotechnology and its many dimensions.

However, he never said that he will quit the race but his remarks made in Chennai are bound to influence the permutations and combinations of various parties for presidential polls that is scheduled to be happened in July.

Earlier, an NDA delegation including, Advani, Rajnath singh and George had met Kalam and told him that the opposition would support him if he wanted the second term in Rashtrapati Bhawan.

Rajnath had said after meeting;

The dignity of the office of president has been enhanced by Kalam, if he wants to run for another term, we are with him.

Now, the situation is going to be more interested that on one hand NDA had showed the sign of support to Kalam’s second term and on the other hand, Shiv Sena, an important partner in NDA has criticized the working of Kalam.

The other parties still have not disclosed their choice on the matter. The parties are waiting for the out come of the Assembly elections of four states such as Punjab, Uttarakhand, Manipur and Uttar Pradesh.

Earlier, a report had come that Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee is also interested in the country’s top job. The Samajwadi Party has already its support to Somnath Chatterjee for the post of president.
