Former External Affairs Minister K Natwar Singh and his son Jagat Singh face the music of the Justice Pathak Enquiry Authority Report now. The report reveals that Natwar had misused his position for getting contracts for others in the UN oil-for-food program in Iraq during Saddam Hussain’s regime.



The copy of the 110-page Justice Pathak report was handed over to the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Thursday.







Now the ball is in the government’s court. One copy of the report will be sent to the Enforcement Directorate, which is doing the investigations.



According to the report, Andleeb Sehgal, Aditya Khanna received monetary commission. Yet there is no proof of Natwar’s MLA son Jagat Singh taking money. He has made accused of misusing Congress letterheads for the purpose.



Former Indian Ambassador to Croatia, Aniel Matherani has also been exonerated.







Let’s have a look on what Natwar says on the report-

I am surprised for being targeted on the issue while the report clearly says that he had misused his position at the time I was neither a minister nor an MP and my son was not an MLA. How does the question of my misusing power arise? How can therefore any aspersion be cast on me and the Congress be given a clean chit. His message - the party and I are in the same boat.



Mr Pathak’s report says that my son and I have derived no financial benefit and that is the crux of the matter.

Congress Party has no link with this matter from day one in any manner directly or indirectly. There is no question of any other verdict coming? So we are happy that our stance from day one has been vindicated.

You are indicting a leader who has gone in the capacity of a Congress leader, so how can the Congress be detached from the whole episode? How has the Pathak Committee given clean-chit to Congress Party?
