Samajwadi Party Rajya Sabha MP and former actress Jaya Bachchan was disqualified from Rajya Sabha for holding an office of profit, i.e., Chairperson of UP Film Development Board.
A similar petition seeking to unseat another high profile member Amar Singh has been filed before the Election Commission.
Closing the proceedings on a petition filed by a losing candidate against her in the election from Uttar Pradesh, Madan Mohan, the Election Commission has recommended Bachchan’s disqualification on the ground.
