
According to a survey, Blogging India: An MSN and Windows Live Report, blogging in India is just on the verge of becoming as the new fourth estate in India.
50% of the respondents said that blogging content is as reliable as the regular media such as newspapers, radio and TV.
Blogging in India is roaring high followed by the Internet revolution in India. India’s blogging community is mainly male-dominated as men accounts for 76% of all bloggers.
Youth and a passion for self-improvement and entertainment drive India’s blogosphere. Almost 42% of the online users read blogs to be well informed, and 49% readers gets entertained by reading blogs.
The research is based on an online survey of more than 1,000 MSN portal visitors in India.
It just highlighted, the blogging community is gaining the popularity but still nascent. Only 14% of India’s Internet users keep blogging and 39% were aware of blogs.
Among Asian Countries, Singapore are only slightly more female-dominated. Young adults are busy blogging in India. Almost 54% of bloggers are from the age group of 25-34 years, 32% under 25 years, and 15% over 35 years.
On the question of the area of interests, the majority of respondents cited technological blogs (32%), news blogs (24%).
Mr Jaspreet Bindra, country manager, MSN and Windows Live, India said,
The Internet is growing at a tremendous rate, driven by user-created content and community-based online services. These are both highly representative of the blogging phenomenon in India today.
Self-expression is the motivation behind blogging in India. 58% of bloggers do it for expressing passionate views, 40% of India’s bloggers do it to entertain others. 47% of blog-owners for enjoying the most about the activity.
