The India-US nuclear deal was listed as a top priority for the US Congress as it opened a lame-duck session in a new spirit of bipartisanship after the defeat of the Republicans in last week’s elections.

On Monday, the Lame-duck session in the US Congress started with a new face. The statistics of the Congress has been changed after the Republican’s defeat in the recent elections. However, the much-talked India-US bill was placed as top priority in the business of the lame-duck session.

During the Senate meet on Monday evening, both republicans as well as democrats agreed on three important works to do in this week.

These are such as keeping the government in operating funds, voting on a trade agreement with Vietnam and approving the India deal.

Harry M. Reid, the aspirant for the post of President in 2008 elections, has called on Congress to pass the US-India Civil Nuclear Cooperation bill.

On the other hand, Indian-American pressure groups and US lobby are working hard, organizing meetings, conferences, and seeking appointments with key lawmakers. They are looking as determined to make sure that the India bill will get the Congress affirmation in this session.

Now, Indian-American Democrats are also trying hard to score over Indian-American Republicans now.
