People use the Right to Information act to know the ‘hidden truth’ from various departments. But, interestingly, a senior IAS officer has now used the RTI act provision to know from the government that what is his job.

M N Vijaykumar, an IAS officer, is the managing director of Mysore Lamps. He has been transferred to six different positions in the last six months. Now, he is asking from the government by using the RTI act that what exactly the government expected from him.

Currently, M N Vijaykumar, does not get salary, there is no supporting staff in the office and he has no any official car and he is the head of a sick company.

Earlier, he had asked about this from the Commerce and Industries Department and from the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms by using RTI act. But, he did not get any answer from these two departments.

Now, he decided to appeal before Karnataka Information Commission regarding this matter. Later, Karnataka Information Commission ordered the Karnataka government to observe the matter and look into his demands.

Vijaykumar was posted as regional commissioner of Gulbarga in September 2006.

On October 26, 2006, he was made principal secretary to minorities department.

On October 27, 2006, he was sent back to Gulbarga.

On February 3, 2007 he was posted as Bangalore regional commissioner.

On February 24, 2007 he was again transferred as principal secretary to department of public enterprises.

Again, the decision to made him Principal secretary too was reversed before he could take charge.

And now, he was posted as MD, Mysore Lamps.
