In India, judiciary does not decide who is what by profession but the similar thing happened in the case of none other than Big B Amitabh Bachchan. A Faizabad court has stated on Friday that Big B is not a farmer.
The court overturned Big B’s review petition that was filed in the court to accord him the farmer status. He is the owner of the 70,000 sq feet of agricultural land in Daulatpur area of Fatehpur tehsil in Barabanki that was actually allotted by the previous Mulayam singh government in UP.
According to the report, the Faizabad commissioner has informed court that the agricultural land allotted to Bachchan actually does not belong to him. The commissioner has also called for an inquiry to review the Amitabh’s farmer status.
The UP government acted quickly after the court’s decision and restored the land to the Gram Sabha. Faizabad Additional Commissioner (Administration) Vidhya Sagar also said that that the agriculture land allotment to Amitabh Bachchan was not legal.
Earlier, M B Singh, Amitabh’s advocate, had argued the court that the consolidation officer in Barabanki had allotted the land to Amitabh on August 10, 1993.
Later, some villagers had lodged their protest to the district magistrate against the allotment by claiming that the land was the village property and Amitabh was neither a farmer nor a resident of Barabanki.
