Every citizen is responsible to the nation. Every citizen has the fundamental right of expression. Citizens anywhere from India now, have the tools to express themselves in the news media. CNN-IBN has started the concept of Citizen Journalism in India.
Other News channels such as NDTV and India TV have moved it in the right direction. The best example of citizen journalism is the protest of people through media after the court judgment in Jesica Lal Murder case. People reacted sharply and collectively.
The serial blasts in Mumbai on Tuesday showed the other side of citizen journalism. People who were the eyewitnesses of the blast and situation after the blast, became an essentiual part of news media. They talked to TV channels, shared their experiences and sent the photographs of the blast sites, etc.
Indian Media is enjoying the power of people in real sense. Now they ask people on almost every incidence of national importance and pave the way to forming a collective voice of the nation.
CNN-IBN has got some pictures of the blast sites. Here are some of those photos people sent to the channel.

Yes. Peoples voice conveyed through media may create sufficient impact on the those who occupy the seats of power. It will sound warning bells of the things to come in the coming elections if not earlier.
RTI Act imbroglio. Can the Parliament modify any Act without proven instances where the existing rules under the Act are inadequate to handle the issues in tune with the purpose of the Act? What is the legal position for this?

hey nikunj, i chkd merinews. its really encouraging to see tht the indians r picking up the pens once more. Truly said yaar, citizen journalism is not only about clicking pics by using ur expensive mobile and then send it to channels like CNN-IBN who make money on thinem. I would prefer merinews anyday over CNN-IBN. Though I feel even merinews has to do a lot to catch up with the likes of its Korean counterpart, yet I think this is the beginning. Well, a common man has his views and all those who are writing in merinews are proving it.
