Delhi Police is perceived as impolite and bad mannered to common people of Delhi. Now, they are told to be extra calm and well behaved when dealing with Member of Parliaments and MLAs.

The Home ministry told through the directive to Delhi Police officials to stand up on their feet if any MP or MLA arrives or leaves. The police officers will have to ensure comfortable seats for them at any public functions.
The Home Ministry letter says that police officers should go with the basic courtesies and should extend to legislators.
Hindustan Times reported that the Department of Personnel and Training issued Ten Commandments in 2000 to become a polite police officer. Police officers will have to rise to receive and see off MPs and MLAs. They should show extra-courtesy and should hear him with patience. Furthermore, they should ignore telephonic messages during the presence of MPs and MLAs.
The Union Home Ministry has ‘indirectly’ granted the extra-important weight to Political leaders. However people say that in the democratic country like India, everybody should get equal treatment.

However, the MPs defended the directive by saying that in a democracy MPs are people’s representatives. Nobody thinks for the common people...
