Ten farmers have committed suicide in Vidarbha region in last two days. The total number of suicide cases has touched 988 in the last 16 months. The number goes to more than 10,000 is we count since the year 2004.
Most of the farmers who committed suicide were cotton growers. Extreme debt and no loan policies for them are the biggest cause of the mass-suicide that is happening in the region.
Three farmers were from Buldhana and Akola, two were from Amravati and one each was from Wardha and Washim district in Maharashtra.
According to Vidarbha Janandolan Samiti, 55 farmers have committed suicide in October only. 125 died in September and 111 in August this year. That means in the three months from August to October, the death toll has touched 291.
The Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had a visit to the region on June 30 and July 1 and since then 385 farmers have been committed suicide.
Earlier, the nationalized banks have decided to stop credit to the farmers. The farmers took the Gandhigiri style of protest and started peaceful agitation in front of banks in Yavatmal district. They washed the feet of the bank employees and worshipped them for their refusal to grant loans to the farmers.
Is the central government sleeping, Is the continuing cases of farmer’s suicides not bothering the government, NGOs, Media, Politicians, Human Right Activists, and many more so-called public figures, who claim to live their lives for people only?
The new policy for farmers has been drafted but when will the implementation process start? In this case, it has been clear that the state governments and the central government have become deaf, dumb and blind too.
Shame on the people, who decide the fate of country, who reads these kinds of news in newspapers or saw the disturbing visuals in TVs and do nothing...

Millions of people do live in Pakiastan & India below poverty line.Thousands do commit suicide in both countries because of poverty.There are only some such cases which are covered by media.
What is reason behind this tragic...
Both countries dont launch positive plans for ememinating poverty,but such plans which eleminate poor public.Both countries haue big defence budget because of so many disputes with each other especially Kashmir.Both claim they are peace loving.But in real scence both countries are in hidden war with each other.Any country when getting chance againist other country do avail.All due to Kashmir.Because of this enemity Pakistanes ,Indian especially Kashmires (Musllims+Non Muslims) do suffer.
If this dispute will be over,withen years India will be one among powerfull copuntries.Pakistan will also progress.But sorry to say in both countries some officical & un official elements for their desires dont want to settle problems/As they are taking full advantage of disturbance in both countries.thx

What use moon missions and nuclear deals when suicides cant be prevented on such a mass scale occuring at such a fast pace. Why not have a rethink on economic reforms and policies starting with the poorest of the poor. Executing machinery of such reforms should be of people with integrety of highest order.
The policy makers of India & Pakistan are responsible for such panic events.
As due to disputes especially KASHMIR both countries priorty is defence not to eleminate poverty & illetracy
Let us hope the ongoing peace process may succed.
And KASHMIR problem may be solved for ever
That will prove blessing for both countries
